Federico Manuri, researcher at Politecnico di Torino, presented yesterday "A Flexible AR-based Training System for Industrial Maintenanceâ€ť during the session related to Applications in Industry and Robotics. Augmented Reality (AR) has been proved to be an effective tool to improve and enhance the learning experience of students. On the other hand, issues regarding the inflexibility of AR contents can strongly limit the usability of AR applications in education. This paper presents results obtained by using the AR framework designed and developed for the EASE-R3 European project and focused on the generation of maintenance procedures for machine tools. The high system flexibility allows instructors to easily make maintenance procedures suitable for the skill level of technicians to be trained. A case study is presented and results gathered so far analyzed and assessed.
Salento AVR 2015: 2nd International Conference on Augmented and Virtual Reality
The 2nd International Conference on Augmented and Virtual Reality (SALENTO AVR 2015) is taking place in Lecce (Italy) from August 31 to September 3, 2015 with the aim to bring together a community of researchers from academia and industry, computer scientists, engineers and physicians in order to share points of views, knowledge, experiences and scientific and technical results, related to state-of-the-art solutions and technologies on virtual and augmented reality applications for medicine, cultural heritage, education, industrial sectors, as well as the demonstration of advanced products and technologies.
